Charlotte

Where The Money Is

As a significant U.S financial center, Charlotte has the second largest financial institution in America after New York as it is home to the Bank of America. It is located in Piedmont, and it is the county seat of Mecklenburg County. Due to its status as the United States of America’s fastest growing economy, the region is the most populous city in North Carolina as it has an estimated population of over 800,000. Despite this large population, the city has a low percentage of households without a car. In fact, as of 2016, Charlotte averaged 1.65 cars per household as compared to a national average of 1.8.

Something For Everyone

Whether you're looking for live music, family adventure, historical centers, or shopping, Charlotte is the place to be! The Levine Museum of the New South is an exciting place to visit. This historical museum is an excellent display of the culture of the South. The exhibits examine the historic racial tensions in the South, which can be thought-provoking.

Also, the Charlotte Museum of History is an exciting place to visit. It is home to the county's oldest surviving structure, the Rock House. This rigid structure was the home of Hezekiah Alexander, a famous blacksmith and farmer that served in Provincial Congress which wrote North Carolina’s first constitution. The Log Kitchen and Springhouse are also located at the Charlotte Museum of History.

Hornets - It's Not About The Insects

Do you know that several significant engagements were fought within ninety miles of Charlotte? You may have heard of the Charlotte Liberty Walk. It is an educational opportunity for tourists to learn about the origin and development of the city. The tour links fifteen sites that made the city a “hornets’ nest of rebellion.” The Indian Trading Path, British Encampment, Thomas Polk Park, Captain Jack Homesite, Settler’s Cemetery and the first Presbyterian church are a few of the markers in this historic site.

Another thing that sets Charlotte apart from other cities in the state is its fantastic infrastructure. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the sixth busiest in the world with nonstop flights to many destinations across Europe, South America and the United States. Also, an inland port, intermodal facility, and a newly constructed high-speed rail line are some of the reliable and convenient infrastructure networks in the city. The Charlotte Motor Speedway is the travel destination of choice for thousands of avid NASCAR fans.

Although Charlotte is a conducive place to live in, there have been multiple reports on the threats posed by pests. This is understandable because of the region’s subtropical climate. Throughout the year, landscape and garden caretakers battle Spiders, Aphids, Bagworms, Colorado Potato Beetle, Fall Webworm, Spruce Spider Mite, and the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. While there have been many suggestions to control the pest infestation, there has only been a few proven methods that work.
