Mocksville, the county seat of Davie County, is home to 5,000 North Carolinians and has been a hub of transportation and travel since the 18th Century. Daniel Boone lived near Mocksville for a time, and his father, Squire Boone, is buried in Mocksville. Golfers enjoy nearby Pudding Ridge Golf Course which offers daily play at a location that played a part in the Revolutionary War. Legend has it that English General Cornwallis found the mud so much like English pudding that he named the area Pudding Ridge.

Mocksville Hosts Many Community Events
When the orange flags are flying around downtown, residents, and visitors know that something is going on, whether it is a “cruise-in” by the DC Cruisers Car Club or the Mocksville Farmers Market is open for business. The town also hosts free concerts and movie nights for families throughout the year on the square.

The Mocksville Christmas parade goes beyond the typical small-town parade, as the town turns out the evening before the parade for the annual “Twas the Night Before” bed race which officially kicks off the holiday season around the town. Teams work together for weeks in advance of the race, enjoying fellowship and building themed racing beds for the big race.
