Rockwell

Rockwell, North Carolina

Rockwell, NC

Rockwell, North Carolina, is a small town in Rowan County between Charlotte and Winston, encompassing just 1.7 square miles of land. Despite its tiny size, it is home to 2,000+ happy residents, many of which are young professionals. It's a quiet, sleepy suburb in the Greensboro area, with great schools, low crime, beautiful green spaces, and a wealth of regional opportunities.

Most residents have no place in North Carolina where they'd rather be. Rockwell is one of those classic little southern towns that oozes small-town pride. Family, community, and faith are invincibly strong here, as evidenced by no less than 19 places of worship that thrive within its boundaries. There are no boundaries to the wonderful entertainment in Rockwell or the charming neighborhoods surrounding it. Here are a few great ways to spend some time in and around town.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at Rockwell Diner, a local favorite with a homestyle flair that doesn't disappoint. And don't worry if you're running late; they serve breakfast all day.

Next, take the family to the legendary Tiger World, one of the country's most celebrated endangered wildlife preserves. Not only does this nonprofit, one-of-a-kind zoo do amazing conservation work right here in Rockwell, but it also does it with no tax support. Where else can you have a wonderful time and literally save a tiger just by being a patron?

If the roar of a tiger doesn't get your heart racing, how about the roar of a motor? Nearby Charlotte's NASCAR Hall of Fame is a must-see venture for NASCAR enthusiasts, and you'll even have a chance to take the wheel in a racing simulator yourself.

Or, if a more sedate outing is your style, head to Rockwell Park. This former cow pasture-turned-recreational gathering place is perfect for a walk or a family picnic.

For history buffs, there is no shortage of fascinating places to visit around Rockwell. The Zion Lutheran Church is the oldest of the churches mentioned above and is on the U.S. Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1794 when the town was in its infancy. (Rockwell would not be incorporated for more than a century later, but its foundation of faith had already begun.) You won't want to miss its stunning architecture, complete with a bell tower. Grace Lower Stone Church is another spectacular, historic place of worship built just a year later in 1795. And the Rockwell Museum is another terrific spot where you can learn more about the town's earliest years.

For lunch or dinner, you've got some exceptional choices, too. Los Jacubes Family Mexican Restaurant is dishing out the best fajitas in North Carolina. Meanwhile, Darrell's BBQ & Seafood might have the best hush puppies on the planet, and Alpha's pizza and Italian specialties are top-notch. Lastly, head to Yosties in the nearby town of Faith for dessert. Their famous cinnamon rolls are a religious experience all their own.

However, some experiences in Rockwell are not nearly as sweet as Yosties' pastries. The region is known to have pest problems, and no amount of faith can spare you from that. If you experience an issue, you can put your trust in At Ease Pest Solutions. We specialize in solving pest problems and proudly serve our Rockwell community. Contact us today for an estimate.
