Trinity, NC

Trinity, North Carolina's history can be traced back to the early 1800s when European immigrants settled it. In 1846, a group of Methodists founded Trinity College. The college grew over the years and became one of the most prestigious in the South. In 1892, the college moved to Durham, North Carolina, and eventually became Duke University. The town experienced significant growth during the late 19th and early 20th centuries due to the college's presence.

If there is one thing taken seriously here, it's sleep. The Sealy Corporation, one of the world's largest mattress manufacturers, employs thousands of people, produces millions of mattresses yearly, and is headquartered in Trinity. The company produces many mattresses, including innerspring, hybrid, and memory foam. Sealy has a long history of innovation and has been responsible for several important developments in the mattress industry, including the first tuft-less innerspring mattress and the introduction of memory foam mattresses.

After a restful sleep, take in the Trinity Museum, also known as the Winslow House. The antebellum-era house was built in 1855 and is one of the ten that remain in the Old Trinity College area. The house was well-maintained and retained high structural integrity. Jess and Ella Richardson were the home's final owners and lived there until the 2000s, and in 2003, the structure was turned into a museum. In 1948, Jess Richardson's father bought the Trinity Train Depot warehouse and turned it into the Richardson Furniture shop. It was later moved to the Winslow House property and is now the only remaining part of the Trinity Depot.
