Tickets were only one dollar the first year, and 325 lbs. of pork were cooked in a field over an open flame. Today, over 15,000 lbs. are cooked over specially prepared pits. The event takes hundreds of volunteers to run smoothly, and residents gladly help with cooking, bagging orders, serving, and more than 25 other tasks. The event is held at the Unionville Elementary School, and students play a big part in the festivities.
