See the historic side of the area with a visit to the 2nd oldest residence in York County. The White Homestead is a historic Georgian-style brick building constructed in 1831 on land leased from the Catawba Indians. It was the childhood home of Samuel Elliott White, founder of Fort Mill Manufacturing, and later the residence of Colonel Elliott White Springs, a WWI flying ace and President of Springs Industries. The White Homestead hosted the final full meeting of President Jefferson Davis and his cabinet on April 26, 1865, commemorated on a historical marker near Highway 160. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.


For a more in-depth view of the area, The Fort Mill History Museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting the area. It has a mission to collect, preserve, and display artifacts, documents, and events about the town's cultural and economic development. The museum's Samuel E. White Gallery features works of art by local artists depicting the area's history from the 1600s to the present day. The museum has received several awards, including the Award of Merit and the Achievement of Excellence Museum Award from the Confederation of South Carolina Local Historical Societies.


Spend the day taking in the natural sites on the Masons Bend Trail, a 1.9-mile natural surface trail running next to the Masons Bend community. The trail connects to the Founders Trail and offers views of the Catawba River. The Masons Bend Trail also has historical significance due to the river's importance to Native Americans and settlers and the use of a former quarry for the Lake Wylie Dam's construction. The trailhead parking area is shared with the Founders Trail, which leads south to Riverwalk and four more miles of the Carolina Thread Trail.

Various leagues are available, and a DJ entertains on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 PM to 1:00 AM.
